Model Without Expectation Tee

As pediatric therapists, we emphasize the importance of modeling language and motor skills as frequently and often as possible for our children. This is especially the case in both verbal and AAC language productions. From birth, children need significant input before they can be expected to perform. All too often, we become consumed with what a child can show us and less consumed with what we can show them. We developed this new design to remind therapists, teachers, and families that modeling comes before any expectation of output from our children. When we work within this framework, we reduce the pressure and demands on our children and allow for greater opportunities for connection across all learning settings.
