Meeting children where they are means closing the gap between our own expectations and where the child currently is mentally and emotionally. When we intentionally listen to and understand a child’s values, needs, and desire, we eliminate our need for control and open the door for a trusting relationship. We created this design as a reminder to ourselves and those around us that children deserve to met exactly where they are.

From a behavioral perspective

I wear this shirt once a week as a reminder to staff how we should be engaging with our students. Every child needs to be met and embraced for who they are and where they are in order to create bonds and build skills that are attainable for each individual. I will be ordering more shirts!
